The actual funeral of Man o’ War was followed closely on radio not just in America, but also several countries around the world. A special airing of his funeral broadcast will be made available on local radio for fans to hear the special eulogy and listen to the funeral where literally thousands showed up to pay their respects to the great horse. 36th Annual Kentucky Book Fair

Since its inception in 1981, the Kentucky Book Fair has been connecting readers and authors in a celebration of shared passion and mutual interest: the importance of reading and writing. Each year, more than 170 local and national authors participate in the event, signing their latest books and meeting readers from Kentucky and surrounding states. KBF Kids Day, open to schools all over the Commonwealth, gives hundreds of Kentucky students the opportunity to interact with authors through a series of engaging presentations. Kentucky Book Fair programs are free and open to the public; KBF Kids Day programs require registration.
Kentucky Horse Park Commission Meeting #4

The Kentucky Horse Park Commission will meet on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. EST. The meeting will be held in the Club Lounge in the Covered Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Yoga in the Museum

The Kentucky Horse Park’s International Museum of the Horse will present a new, free Yoga in the Museum series in 2018 with the partnership of Chelsey Reid of Red Horse Yoga in Georgetown, Ky., beginning January 25, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
These complimentary, hour-long community yoga classes will be held among the exhibits in the museum and will focus on grounding through breath and gentle movement in sequences that are welcoming to both beginner and experienced yogis. Participants should check in at the museum’s front desk upon arrival, and should bring a mat or towel, and water.
Classes will be conducted by Reid who also suggests that students should bring “an open heart to release stress, connect with community, and enjoy a fun flow in one of the most unique gems in the Bluegrass, the International Museum of the Horse.”
Governor's Prayer Breakfast

The Governor's 52nd Annual Prayer Breakfast will be Tuesday, February 6 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am at the Kentucky Horse Park's Alltech Arena.
Guest speakers include Albert Veksler, Israeli Director, Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast Movement, and Nick Mingione, UK Head Baseball Coach.

Point Given Day

Join us for Point Given Day at the Kentucky Horse Park! On Sunday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m., a special Hall of Champions show will centered around our newest resident.
Enjoy an extended meet-and-greet with the strapping Thoroughbred champion, as well as poster giveaways. Point Given Day at the Hall of Champions is included in the cost of park admission.
Point Given has become the fifth Horse of the Year to occupy the Hall of Champions barn. The 20-year-old son of Thunder Gulch was the first horse in history to win four $1 million races in a row, which included the Preakness, the Belmont, the Haskell Invitational Handicap, and the Travers Stakes. For his efforts, he received Eclipse Awards as 2001 Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Colt. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2010. KHP Veterans Day Presentation: Sergeant Reckless

Join us as Kentucky Horse Park Volunteer, Doug Carter, tells the stories of Staff Sergeant Reckless and other horses used in war.
Lieutenant Colonel, April Brown, U.S. Army and Program Coordinator for Ky Dept of Veterans Affairs will be leading the event with the National Anthem. A presentation of colors and flag folding ceremony will take place by the American Legion Post 8 Honor Guard.
Active, Veteran, retired military and their family receives free admission.
Lunchtime Lecture

We invite you to pack a lunch and join us Thursday, January 9 at 12:30 PM for a Lunchtime Lecture with Lenny Shulman at the International Museum of the Horse!
Lenny has just completed a 20-year run as Features Editor of Bloodhorse magazine, covering the Thoroughbred industry. He is the author of “Justify: 111 Days to Triple Crown Glory” and “Ride of Their Lives,” which examined the troubled lives of Thoroughbred jockeys.
He won an Emmy Award as a television writer and spent 20 years in Hollywood working as a writer/producer on the hit children’s show “Kids Incorporated” and also wrote for Fox Sports.
Lenny founded the Tucson Times weekly newspaper and began his career as a sports reporter on the Oneida (New York) Daily Dispatch following his graduation from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications.
We are excited to have Lenny kick off his retirement with our monthly Lunchtime Lecture! This is a free event open to the public.
Kentucky Horse Park Run/Walk Club - Every Monday

The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation is proud to announce the return of the Kentucky Horse Park Run/Walk Club in May 2021! Meeting every Monday evening from 4:30-7:00 at the KHP Visitor Center, the Park welcomes the community to explore the grounds free of charge! A specific route is marked for visitors to walk or run a 1.5 mile or 3 mile loop through the beautiful horse capital of the world.
The KHP Run/Walk Club presented by the KHP Foundation will meet Monday evenings from 4:30-7:00, May 3-September 27 (closed July 12, July 26, September 6).
Event Details
- Event is free to the public
- Face Masks required when social distancing is not possible
- Register online ahead of time or at the event (registration form below)
- Run or Walk anytime 4:30-7:00pm along a marked route through the beautiful Commonwealth. Routes are clearly marked with signage.
- No water stations this year, please bring your own waters
- Food trucks will be available each week with snacks, dinner and drinks
- No vendors, bands or yoga this year
- Dogs permitted, only on leash
- No bikes or other vehicles on the route
Parking for the KHP Run/Walk Club is at the Visitor Center Parking Lot, parking is free. Route starts at the Visitor Information Center.

Community residents and businesses have donated all types of new and slightly used tack, riding clothes and shoes, horse gear, and more. From the most seasoned equestrian to a new horse owner, everyone can find exactly what they need. And with proceeds going straight to CKRH, you don’t have to feel guilty about buying another horse blanket or pair of boots!

12:00 pm - Supreme Sultan (1966-1983) was a seven-time leading sire of champion American Saddlebreds. Buried under a life-size bronze statue by Patricia Crane, his legacy continues today in many champion bloodlines. Will meet in front of the American Saddlebred Museum.

1:00 pm - Breed representatives perform in hand and under saddle in their HALLOWEEN COSTUMES! Stick around after show to get close to today’s featured horses.

1:40 pm - Once you’ve learned about breeds from across the world, join us by the Big Barn to learn about some of the world’s most famous champions laid to rest here at the park. KDA Spring
