KHP Driving Clinic (SOLD OUT)

Saturday, March 11, 2017 - 10:00am to Sunday, March 12, 2017 - 3:00pm
Event Description: 

These are a series of two-day clinics, Saturday and Sunday, from 10am-3pm. The second day builds upon skills learned in the first day so you should plan to attend both days. This clinic will be held rain or shine and most of the activities will take place in the Big Barn/Covered Arena. Please dress appropriately for the cold weather.

Beginner horsemen are allowed and encouraged, but you must have basic horsemanship skills in order to participate. On the first day of the clinic there will be a short classroom period to give you the basics followed by learning to harness, ground drive single horses and driving single horses. The second day will be similar and will cover team driving.

Only 12 participants will be allowed per clinic to ensure plenty of hands-on time. Clinic slots are first come first serve. The cost of the clinic is $175/person. Payment must be made when you turn in your application in order to hold your slot in the clinic and is non-refundable.

30th Annual National Mounted Police Colloquium

30th Annual Mounted Police Colloquium

October 13-16, 2014

Instruction will include flatwork, jumping, crowd control, obstacle training, police tactics and competition courses.

Guest instructors are scheduled to include the Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police, Lexington Mounted Police, Jerry Mayo (retired) Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Megan Lau Maryland National Capital Park Police-MC, Ron Markland (retired) United States Park Police, and Pat Berkery (retired) Philadelphia Mounted Police.

Mounted Police Civilian Sensory Training Clinic

Kentucky Horse Park, Alltech Arena
October 17-18, 2014    8am-5pm

School your horse with the same sensory training techniques the mounted police use to train their horses. The clinic, grounded in natural horsemanship fundamentals, is done in-hand and under saddle. Riders work at their own speed and comfort level. All breeds of horses and riding disciplines are welcome. Must be 18 years old to participate.

The maximum number of participants will be 30 people per day, but there will be a waiting list in case of cancellations, to be called on a first come, first served basis. Cancellations 30 days out will receive a full refund; cancellations 29-10 days out will receive a $75 refund.
