CAM FELLA BIO

Cam Fella was foaled at Walnut Hall in Lexington, KY on May 14, 1979. He was sired by Most Happy Fella, out of Nan-Cam, by Bret Hanover. He was then bought as a two-year-old by Norm Clements and Norm Faulkner of Ontario, Canada and trained by Pat Crowe.

Known as "The Pacing Machine," Cam Fella last raced in 1983 and completed his career with 61 wins in 80 starts, and earned $2,041,360, making him the richest Standardbred at the time. He had an impressive 28 consecutive victories. He was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame for his racetrack accomplishments, and was inducted into the United States Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 1998.

Cam Fella succeeded his racing exploits with a phenomenal career as a sire at Stonegate Farm in New Jersey. His 13 crops of horses have earned more than $106.9 million, and include such champions as Camtastic, Goalie Jeff, Precious Bunny, Presidential Ball, Cams Card Shark, and Elllamony. Cam Fella sired 16 millionaires, and has a record number of 12 offspring that have paced the mile in less than 1:50.

In 1997, Cam Fella was gelded due to testicular cancer and was then moved to the Kentucky Horse Park. On May 9, 2001, Cam Fella was humanely euthanized due to renal failure following a progressive battle with cancer. Cam Fella is buried at the Hall of Champions.
