Gene Carter, truly one of the old guard of Kentucky’s Thoroughbred horse industry, is still contributing his memorable stories and his charming wit at 90 years young working full time each summer at the Kentucky Horse Park.

The only known person still living that sat on the back of Man o’ War, Mr. Carter shares his story in this interview with the Herald-Leader’s (Kentucky.com) Linda Blackford.

Gene Carter Featured for Lifetime of Contributions

Gene Carter is being featured on the Kentucky Personnel website today in recognition for his lifetime of work with horses here in Kentucky. Over the course of his 87 years, he has experienced so much within the equine business and serves as a human encyclopedia of knowledge.

Here at KHP, we are grateful for his contributions and encourage everyone to enjoy our own Robin Bush's article in full to find out more about Gene and his wonderful story.
