The Kentucky National Horse Show, an annual 4-day hunter jumper show, will be hosted by the Kentucky Horse Park, September 18-22, 2013.
The Hagyard Equine Medical Institute will once again sponsor “The Betsy,” a gala and grand prix benefiting the Markey Cancer Foundation in honor of Betsy Fishback. "The Betsy" Grand Prix has prize money of $75,000 and will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday evening in the Alltech Arena. Be sure to come out for an evening of great food, a live auction and exciting world class show jumping. The first 1500 people through the doors will get a free hot dog and drink.
The Kentucky National Horse Show will also host the $25,000 Prix de Lexington at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 21, and the $10,000 United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) International Hunter Derby will be at 8:00 am in the Alltech Arena on Sunday, September 22, 2013. The USHJA High Performance Hunter Committee developed the USHJA International Hunter Derby to bring the art of tradition and horsemanship back to the show ring stronger and better than ever. The USHJA International Hunter Derby Series has successfully brought attention to show hunters at the international level; increased spectator, media and sponsorship interest; and brought tradition and basic riding principles back to the sport of showing hunters.
The $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Classic Finale will also be hosted by the Kentucky National Horse Show. A $10,000 cash prize will be awarded to the professional rider accumulating the most points in the classes which make up the Hallway Feeds Hunter Series. In addition, the Series leading Amateur and Junior riders will receive $2,500 each. The 2013 Region 4 NHS/ASPCA Maclay Regional Championship will once again be held at the Kentucky National Horse Show in the Alltech Arena on September 21, 2013.
