KENTUCKY (August 17, 2011) Do you remember where you were on 9/11/2001 when the twin towers came down?  Now you can make a great, new 10th year memory by helping honor the fallen and our Wounded Warriors.

Join The Corporal Bill McMillan-Bluegrass Chapter of the Association of the United States Army as we honor and give back. Come to the Kentucky Horse Park on Sunday morning, 9/11 by 7:45 and participate in a 5K Run or Walk or a One Mile Walk, preceded by a short, patriotic ceremony. Be cheered on by our local Wounded Warriors.

You will be part of 44 race/walks across the country on 9/11 supported by The Steven Siller Foundation and USA Cares, two beneficiary organizations dedicated  to post 9/11 Wounded Warriors and Veterans.* The Lexington Race/Walk will be conducted by The Corporal Bill McMillan-Bluegrass Chapter AUSA, the third beneficiary organization, one dedicated to our local Wounded Warriors’ and Veterans’ needs.

Register at tunneltotowers.org, then go to “911 race near you,” and click on “Lexington.”  You can select Run, Walk or Volunteer for event help or sign-up as a fundraiser team.

Make a great, new patriotic 10th year memory as you benefit your local Wounded Warriors and Veterans. We can do this. “Let’s roll.”

* Charitable Beneficiaries - Tunnel to Tower Run/Walk

The run/walk will benefit three distinct organizations.   One is the Steven Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation (see http://www.tunneltotowersrun.org/) . The Foundation is committed to building a proper house for all military quadruple amputees. They have coordinated an online registration activity (Actve.com) and national publicity campaign plus they are giving us support in the details of running an event like this. We have a web site on Active.com where interested people may register.

The second beneficiary is the USA Cares Organization http://www.usacares.org/ .which is a nationwide operation started out of Radcliff KY. Since 2003, USA Cares has responded to over 30,000 requests for assistance with more than $8,000,000 in direct support grants where money raised in a state stays in that state. They have saved over 1,400 mortgage foreclosures effecting over 2,850 children.

The third beneficiary is our local Chapter and we plan to use our funds to support wounded Warrior Activities at Ft Knox and our local Veterans programs in conjunction with the VA Medical facilities on Cooper Dr and Leestown Pike. See our new website at AUSA.org in the Chapters drop down. Click on Tunnel to Tower Run in the Chapter Events Section then click on Register Here or go to tunneltotowers.org/Lexington.aspx
