The International Museum of the Horse is participating in the Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day again this year. Visitors receive two free admissions to IMH, and admission to the rest of the Kentucky Horse Park is available as an add-on for only $8.

Opening to the public on Thursday, May 29, the exhibit shares items from Bassett’s personal collection, representing his long and storied career in the Thoroughbred industry. In particular, he is honored for the leadership role he played in saving the Calumet Farm trophies that are now safely ensconced at the museum for future generations to enjoy.
In April of 2014, the International Museum of the Horse will unveil a new concept in special exhibitions with its opening of Equine Treasures of the Bluegrass. Utilizing the museum’s permanent exhibits and collections as its framework, as well as art and artifacts from some of the Commonwealth’s leading museums. libraries and private collectors, Equine Treasures of the Bluegrass will be the most comprehensive exhibition ever produced telling the fascinating story of the mystical bond between Kentuckians and their horses.
